Ball State University is accepting applications for a professional position as Director of Engineering and Construction available May 8, 2017.
The Director of Engineering and Construction directs a staff of engineers and construction managers in the completion of engineering, construction, energy management and sustainability activities for the campus of Ball State University. The position reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Facilities Planning and Management and is a part of the department’s senior staff management team.
Major responsibilities: Manage all engineering activities, all construction activities, energy management and sustainability measures, all infrastructure systems design, and long range plan for general repair and rehabilitation for University Academic Administrative buildings, parking lots and structures and all infrastructure systems.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited college or university with proven mechanical and electrical related design experience.
Ten years of experience related to facilities design and rehabilitation; Five years of experience with managing major construction activities; Experience in budgeting and budget requests; Knowledge and experienced in design principals related to architectural, mechanical, electrical, environmental, plumbing, fire protection systems, high voltage and infrastructure systems; Knowledge and experience in OSHA, IDEM and EPA regulations, fire and safety codes, uniform building codes, and mechanical, plumbing, and electrical codes;
Registration: Professional Engineer in the State of Indiana or obtain a license through “comity” within a reasonable amount of time.
Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university; Experience in a related position with a higher education institution.
