Overall Function: (Brief statement of overall purpose of position)
Support overall unit electrical power, instrument systems and process control systems and management of change.
Assist operations and maintenance in order to troubleshoot instrument, electrical, process control problems.
Execute COD's for instrument, electrical and process control improvements and complete design in order to correctly and safely implement identified improvements.
Act as main I&E liaison with Engineering Contractor for all major projects and MCN's in order to ensure site policies, procedures, standards and specifications are met.
Write or approve project scopes
Mark and approve all I&E drawings
Establish and maintain installation details and standards
Represent business unit at PHA's and set standards for implementing DX3S standards
Participate as active member of unit technology team in order to develop and implement long range plans for instrument, electrical and process control improvements.
Provide instrument, electrical, process control checkout and start-up support of facilities in order to meet production and business needs.
Guide and train area personnel on instrument, electrical and process control technologies in order to assist reliability effort.
Create and maintain related documentation, files, procedures, databases, drawings and schematics in order to ensure integrity of unit instrument, electrical and process control technologies.
Participate on related instrument, electrical and process control networks and user groups in order to leverage learnings across the organization.
Act as primary contact with Alabama Power in order to address contract, reliability and technical issues.
Provide overall technical guidance to Electrical Specialists and I&E Area Resources on electrical and power distribution issues in order to ensure site electrical needs are met.
Supports or leads six sigma improvement projects per business needs.
Qualifications
B.S. Electrical Engineering
10-15 years manufacturing plant experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of instrumentation systems and electrical infrastructure.
Experience with process control and instrumentation tuning
Ability to develop creative solutions to a variety of technical issues.
Demonstrated ability to manage and lead both strategic long-term programs/projects as well as address short-term operational issues.
Excellent communications/interpersonal skills to allow productive collaborative relationships with varying levels of organization from mechanics to management. Demonstrated strengths in getting results, meeting commitments & problem-solving skills.
Experience in a chemical facility and process safety concepts is a plus
Green or Black Belt Certification is an asset.

Demonstrated knowledge of site's electrical contract with Alabama Power
Demonstrated ability to work with site leadership to determine best pricing structure for site electrical contract and communicate ongoing status on site costs.
Demonstrated knowledge of electrical principles, technologies, codes and standards.
Demonstrated knowledge of site electrical distribution center and area classification issues.

Electrical distribution and power systems experience required for this position include Motor Control Centers, Drives, Inverters, and other related 480V systems
