Position Description
Over the past year, EBI has been successful in integrating an Architecture and Engineering services group into our business. We started primarily in New England area but are growing and expanding nationally. Because of this growth and expansion, EBI needs a Manager of Engineering, A&E to manage/support the continued expansion and diversification the A&E group. The Manager of Engineering will be responsible to integrate, coordinate, expand and diversify A&E functions with all of EBI’s technical support employees, including Telecom, Real Estate, Healthcare, Academic, Biotech and Industrial businesses.
Responsibilities and duties include:
Responsible for directing, planning and controlling all projects within the A&E group ensuring client satisfaction and maximizing project profitability. Provides Group staff with positive, enthusiastic leadership that establishes individual attitudes of professional pride, competence and collaboration.
Planning
• Evaluates and approves engineering concepts, design procedures, and new technologies for the A&E Group.
• Assigns staffing to produce work for all projects within budgeted hours. Resolves scheduling conflicts.
• Resolves conflicts between project priorities jointly with the Project Managers.
• Develops and updates standards and methods for design, engineering and drafting to ensure technical quality and maximum efficiency.
• Establishes and maintains design review and checking procedures for all engineering projects to maintain quality assurance on projects.
• Ensures and monitors production of work on a continuing basis to achieve schedule requirements and quality assurance.
• Provides input for strategic planning.
Organizational
• Develop programs and goals for engineering staff.
• Ensures adequate staffing of division and technical competence of staff including new hires and personnel transfers within the company.
• Strives to improve technical skills of staff through the encouragement of career development activities.
• Performs ongoing performance evaluation and salary reviews of Group staff.
• Motivates Group staff to meet project schedules and work at full capabilities.
• Travel as required by project as it relates to the above duties and other duties as directed by supervisor. Such travel may entail periods of absence from normal place of employment.
• Responsible for the promotion and administration of company policy within the Group.
Coordinate efforts with division heads (Real Estate, IIS) in the areas of business development, and overall production.
Fiscal
• Monitors and controls operations hours and payroll budgets to achieve targeted Group goals.
• Develops and monitors G&A budgets for Group.
Marketing
• Provides input for scheduling, hours, and fees. Assists in decisions relating to pursuit of projects.
• Develops and prepares technical scope of work for qualification and proposal efforts.
• Assists in the technical presentation at interviews and contract negotiations.
• Assists in developing action plans to build and maintain a backlog of project work while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.
• Responsible for capturing new work for the firm targeting both current and prospective new clients.
• Maintain professional relations with clients, potential clients, various governmental agencies, and other professionals.
Education Requirements
Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Engineering
Registration Requirements
• Minimum of 10 years design experience with a minimum of 3 years managerial experience.
• P.E. registration in multiple states
• NCEES certification
