DUTIES: This position is responsible for monitoring the Load Dispatcher operation of the converter facilities and responding to calls outside the normal tour of duty. The position is responsible for operation, maintenance and repairs of Amtrak owned frequency conversion facilities which includes trouble shooting failure; developing maintenance schedules for our field technicians that maintain the facilities; training of Amtrak technicians; develop scope of work for activities to be performed by non-Amtrak workers and work with Procurement to implement contracts for non-Amtrak workers. Duties also include overseeing operation, maintenance and repairs of conversion facilities owned by utility companies. This position will oversee and authorize work on the utility owned conversion facilities and insure compliance with standards that apply to conversion facilities.
EDUCATION: Must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of training, education, and/or work experience. Prefer Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with Converter Design Experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Must have demonstrated experience of Electrical Engineering in Converter/Substitution Maintenance. Good working knowledge of the electrical system. Prior satisfactory job performance is required.
PREFERRED: Demonstrated experience in Electric Traction.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must have demonstrated experience with electrical systems in both maintenance and construction. Experience and knowledge of labor agreements. Effective knowledge of OSHA and FRA safety regulations, policies and programs; injury prevention programs; and personal protective safety equipment. Experience with Microsoft Office. Strong organization, administrative, and planning skills.
COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Must have demonstrated experience communicating verbally and in writing both within and outside the company. Ability to work effectively with multiple team members.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 10 indirect
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 50%
COMMENTS: Travel required on the NEC between Washington and New York to manufacturer sites.
