Position Overview
This outstanding opportunity is based in our corporate headquarters in Rochester, NY and provides technical and organizational leadership to the multi-site, global software engineering group within Carestream Health’s Digital Medical Solutions organization. This role is responsible for successfully delivering innovative and quality software applications that meet the needs of our customers and business.
This is a full-time, regular position, not a consulting role. Carestream Health offers very competitive compensation including excellent employee benefits and a great work environment. Responsibilities
• Continuously develop software engineering organization’s skill set and capabilities through active recruiting, personnel development and performance management. Approximately 70% of this position is focused on the management/leadership components of the job and 30% operations-oriented requiring technical competence in software development including an emphasis on .NET and C# technologies.
• Establish, utilize, and reinforce the engineering processes and best practices necessary to ensure quality software is developed that meet the defined product specifications within committed timeframes.
• Utilize and enhance metrics to monitor and drive the efficiency of the multi-site software engineering organization and associated product development quality
• As a member of the Software Leadership Team, participate in establishing and implementing the strategic direction of the organization.
• Work closely with the Program Management and R&D leadership teams in planning and estimating for upcoming software development needs.
• Drive individual performance including goal setting and ongoing assessments, gap closures, and productivity improvements
Qualifications/Skills:
• Minimum 10 years experience in managing worldwide distributed software engineering teams. Experience in product development and full software lifecycle required. Strong preference for experience in a regulated product environment, particularly medical products.
• Knowledge of software development methodologies, configuration management practices, and product development processes. Must possess technical expertise in .NET and C# technologies.
• Proven experience in software engineering technical and organizational leadership within a matrixed product development organization. Should have experience managing a team of 15-30 software professionals in a multi-site, global environment. Experience with a strong performance-based management model preferred.
• Previous experience in a “start-up” environment (i.e. in a new company or start-up of a new software group within an established entity) highly desired.
• Experience driving a high performance software engineering environment, including goal setting and performance measurement
• Ability to identify organizational and technical competency gaps and develop remedies to meet current and future business needs.
• Ability to assess current business conditions in a dynamic start-up like environment and adjust priorities accordingly
• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or related technical discipline; MS a plus.
• Ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization worldwide.
• Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to distill complex concepts into simple, concise and clear terms
